Sleeping with your WHOOP
The night setting is a different setting
This is the most widespread mistake: keeping the fit set for a 6 pm session on through the night. Circulation slows during sleep, skin marks more easily, and eight hours of stillness at the same pressure point does the rest.
Loosen a notch before bed. Sleep tracks perfectly well with gentler contact: what matters is that the device does not lift off, not that it compresses.
The side you sleep on
If you always sleep on one side, the lower wrist spends the night squeezed between the pillow and your head. It is the most common cause of a band marking on one side only, and of waking with a numb hand.
Wear the device on the upper arm, or move it slightly up the forearm for the night.
What actually bothers people in bed
Rarely the device. Usually the material. Silicone does not deform with the wrist and does not breathe: you feel it all night, and the skin stays clammy underneath. An elastic weave follows the movement and lets air through.
It is the most frequent reason for moving to textile, ahead of appearance. See: woven or silicone.
The night band
If you already rotate two bands, make the softer and drier one your night band. You gain twice: comfort in bed, and a day band that gets eight hours to dry while you sleep.
It is the best practical argument for a second band, well ahead of style. See: how many bands.
If sleep data looks wrong
Before blaming the algorithm, check three things: the device has not rotated under the wrist overnight, it is not sitting on the bone, and the band still holds. A tired weave lets the device drift for eight hours without your noticing. See: the device that slides.
What stays on overnight
A night band is chosen on softness rather than colour: Sage, Taupe or Sand, none of which leaves a mark by morning.
