The metal WHOOP band: what it changes
In short: Milanese mesh is a woven metal watch band closed by a magnet that slides. Ours is called Meridian, costs €89, comes in four finishes and fits the WHOOP 5.0 and the WHOOP MG. See all four.
Why people look for a metal WHOOP band
The search comes in several forms: WHOOP metal band, WHOOP gold band, Milanese mesh, a WHOOP band that reads as jewellery. Behind all of them sits the same friction: the WHOOP is a black housing with no screen, shipped with an elastic strap, and there are moments where elastic does not pass. A dinner, a wedding, a meeting where people wear watches.
Most solve it by taking the sensor off. That is the one moment the data stops — and often the moment sleep and stress would have the most to say.
What Milanese mesh actually is
It is a very fine steel weave, invented for watchmaking, where the links sit tight enough to form a continuous surface rather than a chain. It bends in every direction without creasing, and it follows the wrist instead of floating on it.
The difference against a link bracelet shows up in wear: no joint that pinches, and nothing that catches arm hair.
The magnetic clasp, and why there is no size to choose
The clasp does not lock into a notch: it sits wherever you place it and holds by magnet. In practice that removes the sizing question entirely. No hole that falls between two, no choice to make at checkout, no mark on the wrist at the end of the day.
It is also what lets you loosen it in one move for the night and tighten it in the morning, without taking it off.
Which finish to pick
All four are the same band; only the finish changes, and the finish decides everything anyone notices.
- Silver — natural steel, the one that raises the fewest questions. It works with a watch, with a chain bracelet, with nothing.
- Black — black on black, the only way to make a WHOOP genuinely discreet. At two metres nobody wonders what it is.
- Gold — the warm gold finish. The one that moves the sensor to the jewellery side rather than the sports accessory side.
- Rose Gold — between gold and steel. Understated on fair skin, frankly coppery on darker skin.
If you hesitate, the rule is simple: match the metal you already wear. A gold watch calls for Gold, a steel bracelet calls for Silver, and Black argues with nothing.
What it does not do
A metal band changes no measurement. It does not make the sensor more accurate, adds no function and does not protect the device any better. It changes how you wear it, and that is all it claims to do.
It does not suit every use either. For a lifting session, a long run or a contact sport, a woven band remains the better choice: it absorbs sweat and it washes. Metal is for the rest of the day.
Who makes it
We make bands and charms, nothing else. The device is sold separately. QUIETUDE is an independent accessory brand, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WHOOP, Inc. Meridian is the name of our own range.
What a metal WHOOP band costs
€89, the same price across all four finishes, free delivery. One size, magnetic clasp, compatible with WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG.
It is the top of our range, and that is consistent: Milanese mesh costs more to make than a weave. For the same intention with more give, Luxe Knit carries the metal housing on a woven mesh, and Luxe Leather does the same job in leather.
The rest of the catalogue sits elsewhere: solid colours, patterned models and charms. None of our bands fit the WHOOP 4.0.
