How many WHOOP bands do you actually need?

One, technically

A WHOOP works perfectly well with the band that came in the box. Nothing obliges you to buy more, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Two, in practice

The real reason is not aesthetic, it is mechanical. A band worn continuously never dries out completely: it runs the session, the shower and the night without ever getting twelve hours to itself. That is what tires it, far more than the number of hours spent on the wrist.

Two bands worn in rotation each get a full day to dry. The result: neither picks up a smell, the elastic slackens more slowly, and the two together outlast two bands worn one after the other. See also: why a band starts to smell.

Three, if your week justifies it

Three becomes useful when the uses genuinely diverge: one band for training and the pool, one for the office week, a third kept clean for everything else. Beyond that it is pleasure rather than logistics — a perfectly valid reason, but no longer one about how long things last.

Choosing them so they earn their place

Two bands in the same colour do nothing but rotate. The most useful approach is two different registers: one neutral that goes with anything, and a second with more to say. Our deep tones cover the first role, the printed models or the bold colours the second.

The clearest case of a second register is the "No Risk No Story" band: four words in marker pen, red and black, striking no compromise at all with the first. Two bands that far apart feel like two different objects rather than two copies of the same one.

If you swim several times a week, make the second band a fine weave: it dries faster. That is the only genuinely functional criterion when picking a second piece.

What about charms?

They change nothing about wear, but they let you vary one band without buying another. They clip on and off without tools, up to three per strap. The full collection runs to fifty references.
